Navigating the pandemic over the past year in Uganda has been a challenge. The government regulations stopped all schools, which left empty school buildings. Even though we have been apart, Obwaagazi staff has supported medical needs of our students and distributed food to their families. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we lost many sponsors, which made it extremely difficult for us to continue to help our families, pay our staff, and pay rent/bills.
The Obwaagazi Board met numerous times to discuss how to be successful with our limited budget, but in the end, the board made the difficult decision to begin the dissolution of Obwaagazi.
I regretfully inform you that Obwaagazi Children’s Foundation has officially dissolved. All sponsorships have been cancelled as of March 31, 2021.
I cannot thank you enough for all of your support to Obwaagazi Academy over the last five years; you helped us educate and advocate for children with disabilities in the Jinja district of Uganda. You changed the lives of our students and their families forever.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for believing in my obwaagazi (passion).

Obwaagazi Children's Foundation
Obwaagazi Children's Foundation is based in Jinja, Uganda and provides special education, therapies, medical assistance, parent education, food assistance and community outreach for children with disabilities in Uganda. Children with disabilities in Uganda are often seen as a curse to the family and communities. These children typically lack parental love, are seen as having no future, and grow up as outcasts in the community. Our goal at Obwaagazi is to enhance the lives of the children with disabilities in Uganda.
