Obwaagazi Family Sponsorship Program
Michael lives at home with his mom, grandma, and 3 siblings in Masese, Uganda. They lost their house in the village and were tricked when buying a new house. They bought the house from a fake owner, while the house was actually property of the bank. Therefore they now have to cover the loan which the real owner had gotten from the bank. The house they rent from the bank is a temporary house of wood and iron sheets with cement floor. The house has electricity and a latrine, but no running water. The family have to travel 100 meters for their water, but this is not safe drinking water.
Michael’s grandma sells things locally, and his mom is a matron at a primary school, but this does not provide enough money for the family. It’s hard for them to provide breakfast and dinner daily, and also getting enough money for medical care is hard for them.
Michael desperately needs familiar people and a familiar routine. He will sometimes disappear and run away from home when he feels disturbed. His family are very worried about his safety and struggle with his behaviour.
