The Obwaagazi Farm exists so Obwaagazi Academy can become self sustainable while providing food to our students and their families.
Our farm staff are currently growing beans and corn, which will be ground up to make maize flour (posho flour). Obwaagazi students have a meal from posho flour every day at school in the form of porridge, or posho and beans. Obwaagazi families receive posho flour, rice, and beans every two weeks through our food assistance program.
Obwaagazi farm currently has chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, pigs, a cow, and a camel.
Our chickens provide eggs to the school, which serves as a great snack full of protein for our students. Our cow provides milk to the school, which is mixed into the porridge.
Our ultimate goal is for every Obwaagazi family to receive a male and female animal from our farm, so they can begin their own farm.
