Attendance started out a bit low this week due to the heavy rain of rainy season here in Uganda! The rain means that the roads are slippery and covered in thick mud. Many of our students do not come to school when it rains as it is too muddy and they do not have the appropriate footwear to walk here.
We reached out to all of you amazing people on Monday after school to help us purchase rain boots for all of the students to make sure that our attendance is at its highest, even in the rain! By Tuesday morning you had helped us get enough money to get all 38 students new rain boots and shoes!! We bought new shoes for the ones that are orthopedically impaired and cannot walk by themselves. We spent the entire morning in the market making sure that we could find all of the right sizes ready to hand out on Wednesday!
After giving out food last week we managed to get another 3 children sponsored! Frida, Musisi and Isaac both got sponsored and were sent home with their bags of food this week. This means that we now only have 7 students left needing a sponsor!! Frida and Isaac both got food this week and Musisi will get his next week!
On Tuesday we bought another two piglets and the building on our farm is improving so much! The pig pens and cow houses are very nearly complete!!
Wednesday was World Down Syndrome Day!
We ended the week with our mid term parent meeting! We discussed the progress of the students and showed our parents what we have been getting up to this term. We showed them our new farm and even discussed some exciting future projects that might happening.
