We've had a busy three weeks off getting ready for Term 2!
We've created all of our new journals and have added a few extra bits to our curriculum as well as bringing back our arts and craft sessions. We have so many exciting things planned for this term!
We created some new sensory tools using colourful rice and pasta. We used food colouring to dye the rice and pasta and then mixed it all together to create sensory buckets for the students to touch, feel and play with!
Our office got a little revamp! We repainted and added some extra touches to make it brighter, more welcoming and more spacious!
We started a new campaign to help us create more space for our school. We have a long waiting list of children that would like to start school with us but we cannot accept these students without having more space. In order to enrol these students we need to add more classrooms and hire more teachers. Our goal is to add two new classrooms and teachers to help us with this extra demand. All you have to do is pick a square and donate the amount that is written on that square!
We bought new uniforms for all of our students! Thank you to everyone who purchased an Obwaagazi Academy shirt through Bonfire. By doing this you helped us purchase a new school uniform for each of our students. We picked up the shirts and took them straight to the screen printers ready to give out for the first day of term.
Our farm keeps getting bigger! Over the three week holiday we bought a new billy goat, a new calf named Bevo and a pregnant female cow named Jan. Jan soon gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Wally!
Our beans have also started to be harvested and our corn is still growing nicely!
We used the holiday as an opportunity to visit some of the homes of our children to complete our needs assessment forms. This form is vital so that we can gather information about the living conditions of our students and find out exactly what they need in their homes to improve their quality of life.
