Monday was the first day of the second term for 2018!
Everyone was so excited to be back and we were very excited to welcome our new interns who will be with us for the next two months! Emily and Alaina will be helping us out in the school and in the office creating new materials and learning everything about what we do here at Obwaagazi!
Each student received and went home with their new uniform.
On Thursday we welcomed new student Derick! He's such a sweet boy who always has a smile on his face! He has already made so many new friends and fits in perfectly with the others!
Friday was the first day of food giving for this term! Each student went home with their usual bag of rice, beans and posho!
Friday was also our first arts and craft session! We started off by making African necklaces made from paper plates. The students then decorated their necklaces by colouring them in, adding glitter and any other materials to make them fabulous!
This week we've had to say goodbye to some very special volunteers. Annemie and Ber have been visiting us for almost 9 months. They've joined us every Wednesday to play and read with the students and helping us to create new sensory items for the classrooms. We were very sad to see them go!
Kimberly and Marije also spent their last week with us before they leave on Monday. We've had such a great time with them over the month they've been here and helping us prepare for the new term. They brought with them some amazing donations including diapers, clothes, toys as well as money to help us buy more specific things we needed once they arrived. They helped us with many drawing and office supplies as well as speakers for each classroom to start music lessons. Thank you Kimberly and Marije!
